Jana Markowitz

Principal Consultant, Organization Development

Jana has over 25 years of experience in technology consulting and management development, with a focus on helping information technology organizations with the people issues of IT. She has broad experience in IT management consulting, meeting facilitation, training and coaching, with a specialty in organizational change, communications and management development.  Her areas of expertise include development of interpersonal skills in IT professionals and organizations, influencing behavioral change, stakeholder communications, building trust, and developing business relationships.

Jana has facilitated IT strategic planning and enterprise-wide implementations (both software and infrastructure) for many organizations including Fortune 500 companies in for-profit, higher education, non-profit, and government sectors. Representative clients are: UTHSC, Rhodes College, Forest Health, Hilton Worldwide, Thomas & Betts, Buckman Labs, Sears, ACH Food Companies, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, NASA, Intuit and Nuveen.

Jana began her career with 15 years at IBM as a systems engineer and technology consultant where she held positions of advancing responsibility starting with technical support and system implementations for Fortune 500 companies and ultimately involving project/program  management, IT strategic planning, and electronic meeting facilitation.  Jana was IBM’s Lead Systems Engineer for Holiday Corporation for six years.

Jana holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Science in Organizational Psychology from the University of Memphis.  She has certifications in Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and Emotional Intelligence psychometrics EQ-i 2.0 and EQ360.  Jana was a contributing author for the Jossey-Bass book Rewiring Organizations for the Networked Economy (2002) and is co-author of Shifting Sands: The People Side of Project Management (2013.)  She is a member of the following professional organizations:

Jana’s volunteer work includes STEM Outreach to girls’ schools to encourage more young women to pursue STEM degrees and careers.
